City of Colorado Springs Municipal Airport (IATA: COS, ICAO: KCOS, FAA LID: COS), known as Colorado Springs Airport, is a city-owned public civil-military airport 6 miles (9.7 km) southeast of downtown Colorado Springs, in El Paso County, Colorado, United States. It is the second busiest commercial service airport in the state after Denver International Airport. Peterson Air Force Base, which is located on the north side of runway 13/31, is a tenant of the airport.
Current Fixes:
- Fixed Gate Parking at terminal so gates could actually be used
- Added Lighting to both Commercial and Military Terminals
- Removed Commercial Parking from Military side of the airport
- Fixed Taxiway Designators to be accurate to FAA airport diagram
- Added Parking and Lighting to FedEx Cargo Area along with static assets, more realistic buildings.
- Redid military hangars, added static assests to be more realistic.
- Re-did taxiway lighting by hand using SDK lightrows.
- Improved main terminal area
- Improve GA Area on West Side of Airport
- Added Military Cargo and GA Large parking at Military Terminal on South East side of airport. GA Large is for troop movement on commercial carriers. Seen 777-300's and A350-900's coming in for troops traveling to and from Fort Carson.
To Do:
- Add new de-ice/fire retardant load up ramp
- Latest aerial imagery from USGS
- Custom terminal building
- More custom building modeling
- Add static military cargo planes
Please feel free make a request for any new features.
Cheers!

Hi! Did you know that your addon flattens a big part of the photogrammetry around the airport?
Greazer
Why not upload some Day images so the airport is visible!

Great scenery! Well presented!
The only issue that I'm running into is the ILS glide paths being inaccurate. For example, the 17L glide path brought me straight into the lighting system before the threshold (it was an interesting surprise as it was near zero visibility), while the 35R GP leaves me about 50-100 feet higher over the threshold. Any chance of fixing this issue?

Just curious, do you use Navigraph navdata or just stock sim data? With me adjusting the terraforming to be proper and not Asobo's flattening of the airport, I would think if stock it's not aligned correctly anymore. I had similar issue when testing default airport with Navigraph data. I should be able to fix this from a tutorial I read.

Unfortunately my most recent flight ended in a crash on the takeoff roll from runway 17R, the runway has some pretty severe bumps that bounce the plane around a ton. The taxi from the west FBO/cargo ramp to 17R was also quite bumpy, but nothing too terrible. SU12 with the latest version of the scenery files. Once the terraforming issues get ironed out, this scenery will be great, and it already is quite good if you're using the normal airline runway (17L/35R).

Thanks for the update! The reason your ponds have water even with your SDK water exclusion is discussed here: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/water-exclusion-polygons-stopped-working-in-1-31-18-0-and-are-still-broken-in-1-31-22-0/577738

Latest version is a huge improvement over before, especially around the terminal area. Sadly, my first attempted flight out ended on Rwy 35 upside down. I got flipped like a judo wrestler. Any hope of resurrecting this airport?

Right now terraforming is bad in the sim. I am hoping with announced improvements in SU12 SDK I can restore the terraforming to what it used to be.

All I have to say is it's significantly better than the MSFSScenery verison. It's a really well done airport, especially for free ware.

Looking forward to the update cause at the moment I feel like Im off roading with this airport.

Sorry I do plan on updating the airport, I am sort of waiting for SU10 to release to see if it would help.

I am so thankful for your work - KCOS is my home airport, and the one I do most of my sim flying from too!
SU10 introduced some issues though. On taxiway F and the north bit of E going to runway 17L - there are some sudden jumps that throw the nosewheel up in the air. If you could take a look at it, I'd be grateful!

Thank you for the kind words. It seems with the updated US data in the WU it has caused terrain issues. I do plan on continuing work with the airport relatively soon to fix those issues. I just moved in the past month so been preoccupied with that but don't worry the airport won't be abandoned.

This airport surface is a disaster. Deleting.

Oh hey look its you again, complaining about something that is free. Maybe if you took the time and actually read the description this is a known issue introduced with SU9 patch.

Just attempted a take off from RWY 17R, Fair few terrain glitches along the runway which cause a accident. I'm running latest update.

Thanks for the heads-up I'll take a look. Looking at the forums real quick, might have been introduced issue with SU9 hot fix and custom terrain meshes.

Is there a way I can donate to this project? I love this mod so much. I would like to pay it forward.
You know, it's crazy how much these little things improve the simulator experience. KCOS is a sentimental place for me and I really appreciate what you're doing here.

Thank you for the kind words, I really do this to pay back to the flight sim community for all the other great freeware developers out there. If you want to buy me a cup of coffee I would appreciate it. I added the button to my account, you should see it on the mod page now.
