Once upon a time this was a repair of Shetland's terrain with fairly modest tweaks to its airports to make them work around it. No more. Those repairs are now done by Asobo themselves.
This is now an upgrade of every single freaking airport on Shetland except Out Skerries.
Sumburgh has also been completely redone compared to the half arsed previous one and is now a standalone download - https://flightsim.to/file/7514/egpb-sumburgh-airport-shetland-upgrade
With the more piddly airfields this has mainly been about getting rid of inappropriate runways and ground services but also adding a few bits and bobs to increase the immersion as well.
What's been done -
Scatsta EGPM - All ground textures gone. Fencing and lighting added. Buildings replaced. Ground markings redone. Still a bit more to do but largely transformed.
I can't say it actually resembles the real Scatsta all that much but it does look more like a real airport, even if the real one is now a goner.
Tingwall EGET - A full prettification similar to the above.
Unst EGPW - New runway and taxi system. New ground textures. All buildings replaced.
Whalsay EGEH - New dirt runway to get rid of the daffy tarmac one one. New taxi system with ground services and fuel bay removed. Fenced. A few other bits of tinsel.
Foula EGZR - A runway replacement only, again to get rid of the tarmac one.
Fair Isle EGEF - New runway and taxi system to remove the fuel bay. Apron removed. Ground services removed. Offensive plane satellite photo burn ins removed from the ground. Fenced. A few extra features. Runway reprofiled.
Fetlar FEA - A new grimier runway and a new taxi system again to kill off ground crews and fuel bays. Flying up there sure seems thirsty.
Scenery File - A separate scenery file that covers the entire area.
There were still a handful of suspect bits that needed terraforming so that's been done. Most of the docks have been filled with boats. Trees stripped from the islands. A few lighthouses are around. A supply ship North of Unst is present to land on in your chopper. Muckle Flugga has been created with a landable helipad.
If you have the previous versions I've left the folder names the same so there's no need to track them down again. Each one is a separate folder as no doubt every single premier league developer has a Fetlar in the works which you'll want to use instead.
V 2.1 I've gone straight here from 1.5 cos it's a cool number.
Scenery file -
Adds better lighthouses at Fair Isle, Foula, Muckle Flugga and Sumburgh Head.
A tanker has been placed far out to sea East of John O'Groats for you to go and visit as the captain wants a little kiss and you are the man or woman to deliver it. You may never find it. Not my problem.
Fair Isle Airport
A couple of minor detail tweaks
Scatsta Airport
Replaces some buildings gone weird at some point. Tweaks or adds a few other details.
Tingwall Airport
Restores a fuel bay, number 0, and makes the buildings a bit more accurate. I'll do a custom version of this at some point soon.
Unst Airport
Sorts out some missing VASI lights.
Whalsay and Papa Stour Airport
Improves the surfaces a litle and adds a dab of detail.

Hi Superspud, amazing addon very much appreciated but could you please make a version that doesn't include the Sumburgh Head Lighthouse as this conflicts with the Orbx Sumburgh scenery showing one on top of the other, but other than that great work!
superspud author
I need to give this a working over as it's been a long old time so I'll remember that.
At the moment there's not very much in the scenery file so you may not notice its absence.

Thanks Superspud for these airfields. Your scenery adds quite a few realistic looking airfields in these remote parts.

Does this pack include the helipad at Clickimin for patient transfer to Gilbert Bain?
superspud author
Never heard of either. If you give me some Google Maps refs I can put them in. I need to adjust this for the Orbx North thing as well so I'll try to do those too in the next few days.

Hi Superstud, I have just downloaded your upgraded Shetland scenery. I would just like to thank you for a great view of where i live, having flown over the the scenery it's brilliant to see it just like the real thing. One of the highlights of it is to see Oscar Charlie sitting outside his hanger at Sumburgh. Well done and thanks once more for your scenery.

Always good to have to local endorsement. That reminds me I'd better get on and do a proper coast guard livery for the S92.

Love this scenery, - just landed at Foula, - so atmospheric.

Really love buzzing around these sites, just the sort of flying I enjoy. No complaints about the airfields, but - is there any way you can get Scatsta's NDB working? not sure if that's something 3rd parties can do or no, but I rather like not relying on GPS all the time. I suspect the islands always being IMC despite no cloud at all is beyond anyone's power...
superspud author
I will give it a look but after all this time I am still effectively clueless when adding clever navigation stuff. I just like pretty things.

Hello Superspud
Thanks for the Shetland upgrade......fine work and much appreciated. I hope you don't mind if I point out a level anomaly in the scenery file. Just north of Lerwick Harbour (great ships !) the Isle of Gletness ( 60.237478, -1.151348) appears as a hole in the sea, rather than an island.......the scenery is below sea level rather than above it. I hope you don't mind me mentioning this .
superspud author
That area is rather broken. I relevelled the sea around the harbour but must not have spotted that. I will get it nuked.
