NOTE : Last FS.TO Website update broke a lot of features that were used on this page (variant uploads, sticky notes with precious information, FAQs with recurrent problems, ability to thank you for your kind messages).
I may miss your messages too as notifications don't point back to them and it's sometimes impossible to find where they were posted. Use private messages if you want replies.
V.3.0.0 brings a lot of changes : you won't have the classic or the G1000 interior anymore but a new one (common with my Reims Rocket mod)
All older liveries will require updates to be compatible
Cessna 172 Skyhawk Tail dragger
A powerfull member of the short take-off and landing capable Skyhawk family built on a Lycoming 210HP STC :
- The C172 Bush Kit
- The C172 Tail dragger
- The C172 Amphibian
This is a plane patch over Asobo's Skyhawk and adds a new plane to your hangar (located at the begining : letter C... like Cessna)
This mod respects the Game Content Usage Rules from Microsoft
How do I install it ?
Like all other mods :
- Have a carefull look at the compatibility list before using it.
- Remove previous version if there is one (in case some files are removed). Remove also older version pre v3.0.0 if you have them :
- bagolu-c172-taildragger-classic
- bagolu-c172-taildragger-g1000
- Unzip the provided file below, drop the directory from the zip in your community folder.
- bagolu-c172-taildragger is the name of the directory
- You can of course use your prefered mod manager to install / activate / deactivate this mod/
Cockpit settings :
You could find two variants in the past, now only one is available since v3.0.0.
The older ones were including real files from G1000 and classic versions.
With encrypted and unaccessible files, it was getting harder and harder to maintain the mod as-is.
I decided to reuse the interior made for the Reims Rocket / Hawk XPII.
Cockpit is a gauges setup with a choice of radio stacks from simple VFR to advanced Garmin 750 & 650 units.
3D model modifications
Model modifications of the original Asobo Skyhawk plane included :
- tail center wheel
- large and stable bush wheels
- Sportsman STOL Camber Cuffs on the wings
- Increased flaps angle
It also includes all the modifications made for my other mods
- working doors, windows, sunvisors
- a configuration book to choose all options
- wheel chocks, tiedowns, covers, gpu
- VFR maps on a cardboard on the yoke
- a tablet to display external applications (sky4sim, fs mca, vfrmap…)
- visible pilot, copilot, passengers
- custom seats configuration (pax, cargo)
- checklist cards and flip checklist box
- various radio stacks (vfr, all radios, pms750, tds750nxi)
- optionnal garmin G5 units
- state saving
- etc.
Flight model modifications included
- more power from a STC 210HP 4 cylinders engine
- manual flaps from 0 to 40° (*)
- enhanced brakes
(*) all positions of flaps can be used with an axis or with mouse; they can also be used through 4 positions (with up/down shortcuts)
Flight model was initialy based on reaperS73 work on the C172 STC 210HP STOL G1000 and changed a lot.
It allows to operate in a STOL mode in bush locations.
Liveries included
Several liveries are included with this plane :
Default livery is from ANN0V
Burgondy is inspired by this plane : 172 Taildragger
Brown is a fictional livery
Brown and beige is from ANN0V
Blue and gray is from ANN0V
Metal red is from ANN0V and is inspired from this story : Plane & Pilot Photo Of The Week: Brian Jenkins’ Bare Metal Beauty also famous on instagram : Brush Pilot
All dirty liveries have been made by ANN0V
Notes to livery makers
- From v3.0.0, the plane is like a third variant and requires updates to liveries to be compatible
- Registration numbers are split in two in panel.cfg : you will be able to set different colors for the wing and the side reg.
- Common parts of the plane have the exact same name as the C172 AS1000 model
- New parts have their textures in bush_172_* and tail_172_* files (wheels, landing gear...)
- Stickers are baked in the model, if you want to replace with yours, edit the file : BUSH172_STICKERS_ALBD.PNG You can also remove the stickers with a transparent texture file.
- The front of the wings are the sportsman camber cuff, defined in BUSH172_SPORTSMAN_* files.
EzRyder has made a very nice ALLInOne C172 Template. Don't miss that paint kit.
Also, don't miss the blender multi template pack from AIRPAC1
About this work
3D model has been made with blender from the export of Skyhawk G1000 Asobo's original model.
All the external textures and animations had to be redone and match the original definitions.
Bush wheels and legs come from the Asobo c152 and savage cub model.
A huge thanks to Newktv's developpement series that helped a LOT.
Huge thanks to beta testers : ANNOV, smvrf, Pops738
Many thanks to EzRyder who figured it out how to use the classic cockpit MikeFear303 for the classic cockpit xml & systems trick !

On your next update you may change:
atc_type ="TT:ATCCOM.ATC_NAME SKYHAWK.0.text"
atc_model ="$$:172 Taildragger"
to get: "Skyhawk N555X, type Skyhawk 172 Taildragger" on ATC 😉
'$$:' will parse any text to atc but "Skyhawk" has a proper localization. I personally hate when atc calls me with "Cessna" as nobody does that ;P

It may be a stupid question but, how do you calibrate the HSI to the magnetic compass (other than with the "D" key?) The Garmin unit manifests correctly but the Heading Indicator and the HSI are way off.

1. Landing and taxi light effects are still in the same place as they are on the Rocket, so they shine through the prop below the nose
2. The white nav light is not attached to the node of the actual mesh on the rudder - so the effect stays stationary in midair
Should be easy to fix as this is just a system.cfg thing 😉

I will say, I was really hoping to see a slight update to the wheels to match more close to real Bush Wheels, but either way great job, going to have to try now!
Will there be any consideration to update the wheels in the future?
