When the sun goes down, sometimes you need to go out. Whether it's for a night time Search and Rescue (SAR) mission, delivery of emergency supplies across a contested border or transporting a traffic collision victim to higher levels of care. These night vision goggles for Microsoft Flight Simulator will help you navigate the darkness and succeed in your mission.
This addon gives you three presets:
- Night Vision Goggles - traditional green
- Night Vision Goggles - White Phosphor
- FLIR
This addon uses ReShade. Instructions are in the read me file included with the download. Steam users are golden. Unfortunately, if you have the Windows Store version of MSFS, this will not work. A VR version of ReShade is being developed, but so far, that also does not work with MSFS. Please visit www.feintgames.com for updates.
If you don't want the Night Vision or FLIR effect to be active during boot up of the game, go to your root folder, open dxgi.ini (or ReShade.ini) with notepad and change NoReloadOnInit from 0 to a 1 like this:
[GENERAL]
NoReloadOnInit=1
After setting this, you can open the ReShade Overlay, select the preset you want to use and then click OK. Additional instructions in the ReadMe.pdf
As the game loads, ReShade will display at the top left of your screen which button calls up the Overlay. For me, it's PgDn to open the overlay, but for others, it defaults to the Home key. Once the game loads, hit that key to open the Overlay, and if you go to the settings tab, you can change it to whatever key you want.
Please Note: This has only been tested with Steam versions of MSFS. However, some people have had good luck by installing ReShade in Microsoft Windows Store versions of the game by following these directions:
Creating this took many weeks of research, coding and testing. If you downloaded it and enjoyed it, please show your appreciation. Any donation helps support me so I can make more of this.

any ideas? i am on the store version but im able to install and run Reshade with some effects, but when trying to open the NVG nothing happens
EDIT: ok scrap most of that ,the FLIR and WhitePhos work fine when selected. The only problem is when the NVG is selected none of the effects boxes are ticked (unlike the other two where the config file obviously ticks the FX boxes) so could the NVG Config file be corrupted somehow? I can individually select FX in the NVG which does bring up some effects, but not sure if im selecting the proper effects thats all

Hey, great addon for the EC135, but when I use it with the H145 the displays are way to bright even on the lowest brightness. Do yiu know how to fix it?

While the effect is very nice, it does not work well in actually dark moonless nights. Trying to find a grass strip in the foreste on such a night is still not possible.

That's a shortcoming of all NV goggles in real life. NV uses light amplification. It can't create light out of nothing.

Just a headsup to other users, this is a great base for a NVG set, it simulates the lens effects and lighting very well. In order to make this more realistic, I used a Color Matrix filter to match FAA approved white phosphor colors and then applied a feathered circle mask layer to give the appearance of looking through a correctly calibrated goggle. I also applied the Advanced CRT filter, lowering the percieved resolution to match the lower resolution of real NVG. Overall, this turned out incredible, and while not particularly "fun" it really adds to the immersion of an FAA approved NVG experience.
If you have previous experience with ReShade and basic photo editing, you should be able to modify to this standard within 10-20 minutes.

Does not work for me
If I choose one of the three .ini via ReShade and activate it nothing happens

Awesome mod work like the real thing 😊
Do you think it is possible to add a depth contour line filter (like in boderland games) to recreate the new DARPA Enhanced Night Vision Goggle ?

This is exactly what I need right now to fly the Raptor.
Damn shame it doesn't work for us Store users!
Is that something that might potentially change going forward?
