Studying the life of the PP-LFA, which began its operational life in Brazil with the Lóide Aéreo Nacional, then replaced the Contellations in Panair do Brasil before ending its passenger transport life with VASP, which in the late 1960s turned it into a pure freighter, where it transported equipment and cargo for the development of the Brazilian Amazon, until it was grounded at the Congonhas airport for some years in the 1970s from where it took off for one last mission, to integrate the mythical "Bolivian Butchers Flights", so called not only due to the fact that they carried raw beef from Bolivian Beni to the Altiplano, but also because of the impressive number of accidents and deaths on these flights, where all the flight rules (and sanitary) did not they apply.
Changing its registration to CP-1283 but keeping the "creative" name DC-6C and the basic paint scheme of VASP, it flew by La Cumbre probably between the years 1977 to 1985 (supposedly manned and maintained by professionals who had worked at Lloyd Boliviano, who knew the DC-6 very well). After years in such an adventure, the plane now rests for eternity in the closest to heaven airport, waiting destiny to take it to a well-deserved museum.
As I found very few images of the aircraft operating with La Cumbre (there is only one front picture at airliners.net), some details are an exercise of imagination, however, I accept any collaboration of old photos and hope to keep this project updated.
History of the CP-1283 (Cn 45527/1017):
Delivered from the factory in 1958, briefly operated by Loide Aéreo Nacional and then leased with great success by Panair do Brasil from 1958 to 1961. From the same year the LFA operated both as passenger and freighter transport at VASP until the first half of the 70s and ended his career flying in Bolivia in the mythical Butcher Flights for La Cumbre with the registration CP-1283 probably between 1982 and 1987, and since then he has been at El Alto airport, slowly deteriorating outside.

Thanks for the evaluation Zorg, I have put a lot of effort in the history of this aircraft and her "final job" was something really unusual, that she survived her last missions is the final demonstration of how reliable the DC-6 is. Try to overload her and take off from an unpaved runway somewhere in bolivian lowlands and then proceed to cross the Andes until La Paz. Now imagininig doing it with the pressurization non operational. Crazy!
