the Cosmos Bridge in Montreal
this is hand modeled as it's a pretty simple structure so it's quite low polygon and shouldn't really have any impact on performance (it's just over 11k polys)

Oh! Thanks a bundle! It might be a simple bridge but it makes the scenery so much better. The bridge got it's name back in 1967 for Expo67 because it linked the US pavillion (now called Biosphere) and the USSR pavillion (moved to Moscow in 1968) during the Space race to the moon era. I crossed that bridge on foot hundreds of times. It used to have a monorail passing over it. And... Cool, you can fly under it!
Pretty empty over here.

Excellent. Imo, the best and cleanest looking bridge you made so far. Thanks. If I may, the Jacques-Cartier and De La Concorde will benefit from higher res texture on their top deck. Just a note.
P.S Funny, I guest everybody assume that you speak french assuming your from Montreal.

thanks
thats because this one is hand made. the others are photogrammetry.
the google photogrammetry is what it is , it's never going to be perfect. you can clean it up to an extent but there comes a point where I have to say "ok I've spent enough time on this" flying past it in a plane its good enough, if you look at it in fine detail with a drone cam sure it;s a mess, thats just how it goes with all photogrammetry, it looks ok from a distance but if you get up close its flaws are easy to spot
a hand made model with hand made textures will always look better
(as a side note this is the lowest polygon and lowest resolution texture bridge I've done) its just over 11 thousand polygons (and about 10k of that is the handrails)
the textures are 4k (the photogrammetry textures are 8k)
you have to make compromises with the google data , if I brought in a model with 10 million polygons and 16k textures it may look good but your sim is going to run like crap
the google data was never meant to be a game asset but lets be honest it's a lot better than what Asobo included by default
I'm from Glasgow in Scotland :)

Cool thanks for the additional info.
and yeah you can fly under (you can also crash into it if you're not careful :)
it has a collision mesh so if you're brave and use a small enough plane (or a heli) you can even land on it if you like
if you're super brave (like me) ;) you can fly under it inverted
