This is a checklist I’ve written in preparation for a transatlantic flight with the PMDG DC-6, since none of the checklist I found gave me entire satisfaction. What started as a I’ll just do this sh*t quickly for myself and postpone the flight to tomorrow project, ended up as dozens of hours of tedious research, reading hundreds of pages of real DC-6A and DC-6B checklists, and trying to extract the most useful information possible without fitting too much information.
I included GENERAL INFORMATIONS about both variants of the aircraft, NORMAL PROCEDURES, and also EMERGENCY PROCEDURES. To make these possibly useful, these are the settings I recommend :
- Setting all of the Realism Parameters in the DC-6 EFB/tablet to maximum
- Using the amazing RandFailuresFS2020 mod available on flightsim.to (link at the end of the description). While it may be a little clunky to set-up, it adds a ton of realism and prevents the ‘‘now I’m in cruise, autopilot is set, I’ll just let the plane fly itself for 10 hours syndrome’’ because it forces you to permanently monitor the many gauges in the DC-6 cockpit. I recommend : setting all failure possibilities to 1% or 2%, When failure will occur : at random time, and Max time to failure : a little more than you expect your flight to last.
The items in the Table of Contents are clickable for easy access to a specific section. Reading of the charts on a tablet or monitor will probably be easier than on printed paper.
I am not a native English speaker, this is the very first thing I upload for public use on any website, and with the time it took me to write this checklist it is very probable I let a lot of mistakes or syntax errors slip through. Let me know in the comments if you find one so that I can correct it !

Hi, I think you have an error on the take off check list, you have set Throttle 30 MP for both take off ! Great job though 😊

Hi, you DO have to set 30 inHg M.P. with parking brake set, to check that power is stable and symmetrical on both sides. Then, set T.O. thrust (which, yes, depends on the procedure, and can be found in appendix C, page 13). Hope this helped !

Thanks MisterDuff, very nice and useful checklist. But I think, indeed it will be better to make Douglas logo lighter or remove it at all. Especially in the Appendices section, behind the tables.
