SSW FRF-104G repaint/livery for MSFS2020. Version 1.0.
This is a livery repaint of the German Air Force RF-104G "Marinefliegergeschwader 2 (MFG 2)" - Code: 21+23.
(RF-104G means Reconnaissance Fighter)
The coding took place at the beginning of the deployment of the F-104 with the Marineflieger (German NAVY)
- in natural metal design - with only black letters and numbers. This was the case from 1961 to approx. 1968.
With the introduction of the comouflage finish from around 1969, the black letters and numbers also received
a white border line. Later, from around 1972, only numbers were used, with black paint and a white border line.
This aircraft is shown with tip tanks with bright orange colored bands/identifiers. Pylon tanks in normal Marine painting.
After a few attempts to convert an F-104G to an RF-104G (Reconnaissance Fighter), the version shown here was finally used.
This version consists in the fact that instead of the complete cannon with accessories, one from the hull camera housing protruding
behind the nose gear, was installed. This version RF-104G is part of the SSW F-104G.
From March 1965 to December 1965, the German Navy received a total number of 27 RF-104Gs manufactured by Fiat/Italy.
The earlier codes with letters and numbers were: VB+201 to VB+227. The later codes, with numbers only, were: 21+07 to 21+32.
By converting / upgrading the RF-104G, to increase the camera performance, an additional round camera window was built into the
fuselage on the left side of the fuselage - above the last numbers (here the 23). Therefore, the two numbers of the code have been
shifted down a bit.
The RF-104G was operated exclusively by Marinefliegergeschwader MFG 2.
Homebase Marinefliegergeschwader 2 (MFG 2): Eggebek ICAO Code: ETME
This RF-104G (Code: 21+23) was in service with the MFG 2 from July 27, 1965.
