Portland International Jetport (KPWM) is a public airport two miles (3 km) west of downtown Portland, Maine, United States. It is owned and operated by the City of Portland. A portion of the Jetport's property, including the main runway, is in the neighboring city of South Portland. PWM covers 726 acres (293 ha) of land. The airlines that serve this airport include, AIr France, American Airlines, Delta, JetBlue, KLM, SouthWest, Unavia Sulsse and United Airlines.
While this airport is for a large part complete as I do not make custom buildings, this is still a work in progress. There is still some work that can be done, but largely it is functional and usable, far better than what we got by default.
What I have done so far:
- Correctly labled all taxiways - You should not have any trouble hearing default ATC (If used) give out the correct taxi names durring instructions
- Added and correctly labled all required taxi Signs
- Added Missing Apon, Apron areas as by default this airport was at an older layout (Even Google earth was out of date, Surprisingly Bing Aerial was up to date)
- added missing gates and realligned them as needed
- Added and corrected painted lines thoughout airport
- Added Default buildings and replaced autgen buildings as needed
= Corrected runway lenghs and widths and corrected things such as lights and approach lights
- Removed all default taxiway edge lights and put in custom lights as to insure there are no random taxiway lights in the middle of taxiways and approns
- Please note that by default this airport does have some elevation issues, I was able to fix the most notible behind terminal, however you may find some random trees that exclusions and aprons with exclude vegetation selected will not remove. Also note that there is a Windsoc put in by default in the edge of Taxiway B, I have yet to find a way to remove it, excludes do not work, and you cannot select it and delete it. and while I could have moved the taxiway away from it, figured it would not quite match up and it should not harm your plane.
v1.1 corrected papi light locations and removed windsock

Unfortunately, it misses the VASI light on all runways, this is very easy to do in the SDK and they are clearly visible on the ground where they are meant to be located. Quite an oversight, give me a shout if you do not know how to do it happy to assist.

@ csv1996,
Excellent work...very much appreciated...
Don't forget to update the version number in the manifest.json file.
Here it shows version number 1.0, but shows 0.1.32 in the manifest.
Also in the manifest.json file;

Good morning. Thanks for the cleanup of this airport and the removal of the redundant tower. If you weren't aware, a couple of the "static" boarding stairs slowly move across the ramp. I think they are in there as SimObjects and not scenery objects.

Yes I am aware. In order to place a gate you have to add a sim object which is usually the jetway. I some cases not all gates have them so I picked the boarding stairs. I am aware that they move however it is an issue with Microsoft. I thought that even thou they move it would be a nice touch for those that choose to use gates and have avail to call for stairs.

Grew up in Maine and got my PPL out of KPWM. Been waiting so long for a rendition of KPWM without the two control towers that the default version has! Thank you so much for this! It's fantastic and I really appreciate your work.

Thanks! From Lewiston (maybe you can do some more Maine airports?)

A big improvement over the default. Thanks from Lewiston, Maine!

There are taxiway lights in the runway near their intersection.

Great effort but when I look around the forums the US airports are underrepresented. Only a few devs here actually put effort into bringing an accurate representation.
I understand it being freeware but many other countries get more attention in the freeware market.
Most of my US airports are paid addons.

Wohoo! nice! Thanks for this
