This is a modification for the MSFS 2020 default Asobo Diamond DA62 aircraft and is primarily aimed at improving the aircraft flight model to make its overall performance more closely match the actual aircraft, providing a much closer experience to flying the real aircraft. Multiple changes have been made to the flight model parameters, and the aircraft weight and balance, which are detailed in the included Change Log file found under the Documentation folder, along with a PDF copy of the actual Airplane Flight Manual (AFM).
This mod is easily installed by simply unzipping the download file and copying the mge-asobo-aircraft-da62 folder to the MSFS Community folder. It will then replace the existing default Diamond DA62 aircraft in the MSFS aircraft selection screen, and will also continue to utilize all of the existing available Liveries. To uninstall the mod and return to using the MSFS default aircraft, simply remove it from the Community folder.
The Diamond DA62 is an amazing new generation General Aviation Light Twin aircraft that offers some unique capabilities and very impressive performance when compared with other popular light twins. The high performance low drag aerodynamic design of the fuselage and wings on this aircraft, coupled with the unique 180 HP engines that run on much cleaner and less expensive Jet A fuel instead of 100LL Avgas, allow it to perform extremely well, and much more economically, when compared with other light twin aircraft. Because they run on Jet A fuel, these engines do not require either spark plugs or magnetos, which simplifies thier operation and improves reliability, and the other normally complex engine management tasks are controlled by a modern ECU, which completely eliminates the need for the Mixture or Prop controls. To fully appreciate its capabilities, I recommend viewing this very informative video from Diamond Aircraft... The Story of the Diamond Aircraft DA62

The main display does not work for me if I install this mod. Any clue?
MGouge425 author
This is most likely caused by a conflict with some other mod or livery... Try temporarily removing all other mods from the COMMUNITY folder to determine which one is conflicting.

Hi, I love this aircraft, please can you add open doors?

I cannot do mods to the 3-D model...

deploying landing gear appears to not add any drag. speed and pitch stay exactly the same when bringing gear down..........

Shame you and Tommy cant combine forces to make one mega mod. shame its one or the other. i appreciate your effort, nonetheless, but will probably stick with DA62X for now (unless you can just release the cfg files that could be hot-swapped in conjunction with the DA62X mod).
Anyway, thanks for the effort and contribution to the flight sim community.

In my honest opinion, you should create your mods to *complement* the extremely popular, more significant available mods for the same planes. No matter how good your FDE may be in these planes, I am never going to lose the amazing engine and systems realism features of the DA62X mod, and return to the default. As the other commentor said, you should avoid changing the Systems.cfg file, and make your specialism more about the flight dynamics.

Unfortunately, this can't be done because both mods change many of the same files, not just systems.cfg.

Would it be possible to make your mods modify just the files you really need? Like the flightmodel.cfg?
Majority of the files included in your mods are exact copies of the original files from Asobo and usually they conflict with other mods we might have or even worse they impose some of your own preferences like cameras.cfg . We all have our own cameras mods or prefer the original etc and a mod about flight model modifying arbitrarily other settings has only bad things to bring. Not only we can't find our preferences with such mod but it may even induce bad habits or bad perceptions. For example... the position of the head in the plane has a great influence on how we perceive the flight model of the plane but it doesn't affect the flight model itself. Thus the perception of the flight model improved or not is altered and scientifically invalid.
You also have added code about lights in some files... what does this have to do with FM? We use many of us a comprehensive Mod about lights on most of airplanes. Thi one: https://flightsim.to/file/12071/new-light Why would be OK to have conflict with a FM mod?
I would like to test your modifications on the FM you've done on so many planes but I am put of by the huge amount of extra files (unnecessarily) that are changed or forced to default by your mods.
I mean... including the localisation files in the FM mod?? Why? Why change Korean language localisation if you do a flight model tweak?? (an example, Korean will be added after SU12...)

You are correct that my mods typically include the full set of configuration files from the default Asobo aircraft, while only a few of these files are actually changed. This is done mostly as matter of convenience when creating the mod, which involves first copying the original aircraft file set. Having these unmodified original files included does not adversely affect the default aircraft or the improvements provided by the mod. But, it may affect other mods that change the same files. The order in which mod files are loaded determines which mod takes priority, with the settings in the one loaded last usually taking precedence. You can try changing the names of the mods listed in COMMUNITY folder to change the loading order, but this doesn't guarantee that they won't still conflict with each other. Mod incompatibility is simply a limitation of the way mods are implemented in MSFS and many mods cannot be installed at the same time.
While I do typically change the default Pilot views in the cameras.cfg file as part of the mod improvements, this does not prevent you from setting up your own custom VFR and IFR Pilot views and saving them using [CTRL]+[F10] or [CTRL]+[F9]. These custom views are saved in a separate cameras.cfg file which overrides the settings in the default, or modified default cameras.cfg file. Also, if you prefer to return to using the original default cameras.cfg file, you can replace the modified file with the original one by copying it from the default aircraft file set found under the OFFICIAL / ONESTORE folder.
My mods are not just limited to flight model changes only, that's why the mod title is REALISM MOD and not FLIGHT MODEL MOD. Many of the default aircraft need improvements to the lighting, or other aircraft systems that are defined in the systems.cfg, ai.cfg, runway.cfg, apron.cfg, or other files.

Hi - was just curious if you based all these changes solely on what it says in the owners manual or if you based it on your own real world experience as PIC of a real DA-62? You do realize that you really can't just plug in all the real world numbers and think the sim plane will fly like reality...typically, you have to choose a balance between real world "behavior" and real world "numbers" because in the game you will rarely be able to match both to the real thing...just plugging in numbers generally does not work too well.
Anyway...was just curious as to what you based this all on. I'll give it a try as soon as I get the chance, thanks for all the effort!

My flight model mods are primarily based on the actual aircraft dimensions and weight and balance specs derived from the POH, as well as other sources. The flight model geometry is also adjusted to closely match the 3-D model, which is usually a highly accurate representation of the actual aircraft geometry. I also use the actual airfoil AOA vs Lift polar data when I can find it. I have found that the simulator can actually do a pretty good job of duplicating the flight dynamics of an aircraft, if it is given accurate input. Seemingly small differences in the geometry, or the weight and balance, can have a significant impact on the flight dynamics.
I also use my own experience and judgement as a pilot, although I have not actually flown this particular aircraft. I welcome any additional input from real world pilots who have actually flown this aircraft, or any of my other modified aircraft.

Does not work in conjunction with the "DA62X Improvement Mod"
MGouge425 author
These two mods are not compatible because they both change the same files. They cannot be used together.

Hi All
Works OK with SU11. Does not work with DA62X Improvement Mod.

This mod is not compatible with the DA62X Improvement Mod because they both modify the same flight model and engine parameters.
