This is my rendition a close 1:1 of the famous Buffalo Airways DC3 C-GWIR aircraft fully with an included IRL cockpit texture to match the real aircraft and a replacement Knots gauge that fully functions as it does in the real aircraft also useful for VATSIM and other online network users. This also includes better metalic PBR and more. Feel free to use my knot gauge on other liveries or the whole DC3 set. This aircraft is known for commonly flying on routes such as what is known as the sked which is a route between Yellowknife and Hay river, a popular commute route for residents there.
There is 2 variants included in 1 folder. GPS and classic. To install, download and extract the one folder into community and open MSFS. There should be two variants, the GPS and the classic after installing.
( Fuselage and tail fin with permission to use by Vanfipe original base fuselage and tailfin painter )

Hi! Downloaded today (26/jan) but the file has C-GJKM and not C-GWIR. Is this correct? Thanks.

Great mod.
On the Knots gauage, Im not sure it displays the actual IAS properly...its not the correct speed in knots

I saw this livery at yellowknife today, at 300m approx its pink textures
DennyAtkin
I tried placing this as a static airplane at Yellowknife, and I can confirm that if you get too far away from it the textures go pink. Wonder if there's some kind of LOD setting that needs to be adjusted?

Nice work, but to update every second day sucks....

Is there a way to get back the mph gauge? As every manual is in mph, I dont like flying by knots in this aircraft
mikejr91
This is a really fantastic effort, however it is a very large mod for what it is, with lots of duplicated textures. Are you aware of the fallback method via the texture.cfg files? Any duplicated files which are needed repeatedly can be used in multiple liveries this way.

I am only just aware of this by viewing one livery someone did that has this method included and I will attempt to include this at a later date when I can. Thanks for the feedback on this.

Thanks for a very good job. How do I put the Knots gauge in other textures?

go to Community\douglas-dc3_C-GWIR - Cargo\SimObjects\Airplanes\douglas-dc3-CGWIR-Cargo\texture.C-GWIRCARGOand copy the following: DIALSC_ALB.PNG.DDS , DIALSC_EMISS.TIF.DDS , DIALSC_NORM.PNG.DDS . And paste them in MSFS PACKAGE\Official\OneStore\microsoft-aircraft-dc3-enhanced\SimObjects\Airplanes\douglas-dc3\Texture and replace for all liveries to use this

Thank you for this paint, and the updates!
I would like to know though...how did you learn to paint in Blender? Like, what tutorials did you use? I have a very limited amount of time to spend on things like repaints, I have tried and given up on Blender a couple times. I haven't found a texture re-refresh method that actully works for me other than re-loading the sim, so MSFS paints just take toooo long going "the old way". The tutorials out there on youtube don't really show the kind of graphics that I need, plus many are using older versions of Blender with a different UI.

I didnt really learn how to paint in blender so much as I had a friend who was familiar with blender more than me show me how to paint in blender sort of. I was shown how to load the model, load textures onto that model and how to paint on it live. However I did not use these as my final paint. I more or less painted where things should be, then did a rough paint of it. then cleaned up the textures in better resolution and quality in paint.net then changing aircraft in the developer menu a number of times id say like 5 times or so and let each aircraft load properly, then load back in the dc-3 livery and the changes have been made. I am more familiar with painting on P3D which you have the option to paint and change texture resolution in P3D options which reloads the texture and you can see the edit much quicker. But due to the ways of MSFS that is not an option... So I have kind of found a way but hopefully there is a better way around this or I can figure out how to properly paint on blender and use its paintbrush properly.

"install the one you would like to use first before starting the sim one at a time." is it not possible to have them three active without having to enable or disable them from the addon linker? Great livery by the way, tried in VR and it looks fantastic!

sorted this out and should be working with all 3 versions now.

It seems you have used the same name for the main mod folder as Vanfipe's mod - douglas-dc3-CGWIR
Of course this will over-write his folder, which has different files e.g.: model.paxcargo

Love what you have accomplished! I really like the cockpit textures. Is there a way to make the gauge bezel's look a little "Less New"?
Benedikt0
Oh No! Please don't! It's absolutley perfect that way.

Thanks for getting the retrofit done.

Please make the same livery for DC3 'retrofit' too. Thank you very much.
