Wigram Aerodrome (originally named Sockburn Airport) was located near Christchurch New Zealand, and was gifted by Sir Henry Wigram for the Canterbury Aviation Company in 1916. It was demolished in 2009 to make way for new housing developments, but still houses the Air Force Museum of New Zealand, a large collection of aircraft and interactive displays, and the only museum of the RNZAF in New Zealand.
I have re-created the aerodrome by bulldozing some houses. It has 3 runways, a large apron with lots of hangars, ans some parking spots.

Thank you ! I'm so over trying to remember not to take jobs going to Wigram ... 😊

Thank you for doing this. It has enabled me to recreate many happy hours flying from Wigram with the Canterbury Gliding Club before it was obliged to move operations to Springfield. Can you please remove the water area on the southern area. This was never a feature and in fact this area of the airfield was used at weekends and holidays by both gliding clubs operating from Wigram. In fact your scenary could be usefully improved by incorporating some glider trailers and parked gliders together with a caravan. A 03/21 grass runway (without changing the vegetation fx) would be useful for initiating aerotows within this area as per RL. Please PM me if you would like further information.

Hi and thanks for your feedback! I only recreate basic renditions of these closed airports for use in FSE, which has a very old airport database, and spend minimal time on them because I prefer to fly! I will look at removing the water in a future update! As for runways, there is already 03L/21R as well as 13/31, which are both grass, is that what was used for gliders? The only documentation I could find (which is pretty thin on the ground and may not be accurate) says these were the only 2 grass runways, along with the main 03R/21L asphalt runway, so this is what I included. Any further info would be welcome!

Sorry, your Description is not correct.
In 1995 the RNZAF left Wigram as a base and handed over the airport to civilian use. The final closure and subsequent demolition took place on March 1st, 2009.
greetings from Christchurch NZ 😉
