Wattle Hills Station is a homestead on the northern half of Cape York in far north Queensland. The airport sits about 300km NE of Pormpuraaw, 400km north of Cooktown, and 560km NW of Cairns. The property is now a privately-owned environmental reserve and research area. The broader region is also popular with tourists because of its natural beauty and proximity to the Great Barrier Reef.
The main focus with this scenery was to correct the autogen airport features. Due to poor quality aerial photopgrahy for the region, the AI thought the large sandy runway was an enormous white apron with a runway in the middle. I've done my best to make the aerial photography usable and tone down the extremely bright sand. It is strongly suggested that you download and install the Mikea.at Asset Pack as this scenery uses some of those assets.
Version 1.0:
- Completely removed the autogen runway and aprons, and replaced them with a single runway of the correct size and making use of the aerial photography
- Added cones for the runway
- Added a parking location on the north side of the runway
- Fixed the windsock location
- Removed trees from the roads in the area around the airport
- Fixed some other vegetation minor issues and added some vegetation where appropriate
- Removed airport service vehicles
- Misc. scenery and vegetation fixes/additions
Known Issues:
- Some minor vegetation and texture issues
