Perhaps not as popular as all the others but it seen its fair share of action. It is what it is and its not the fastest of the lot. But its a fun plane to cruise around includes 2 liveries, wing fold and canopy works as well and its fuel consumption is minimal. And it's free.
Have fun!
The Douglas TBD Devastator was an American torpedo bomber of the United States Navy. Ordered in 1934, it first flew in 1935 and entered service in 1937. At that point, it was the most advanced aircraft flying for the Navy and possibly for any navy in the world. However, the fast pace of aircraft development quickly caught up with it, and by the time of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor the TBD was already outdated.
The Devastator performed well in early battles, most notably in the Battle of Coral Sea, but earned notoriety for a catastrophic performance during the Battle of Midway in which 41 Devastators recorded zero torpedo hits with only six surviving to return to their carriers. Vastly outclassed in both speed and maneuverability by the Mitsubishi Zero fighters they faced, most of the force was wiped out with little consequence except to distract the Zeros from the SBD Dauntless dive bombers that sank four carriers and a heavy cruiser. Although much of the Devastator's dismal performance was later attributed to the many well-documented defects in the US Mark 13 torpedo, the aircraft was withdrawn from frontline service after Midway, being replaced by the Grumman TBF Avenger.

The rear seat texture didn't download with the package...the bottom texture colour doesn't extend to the bottom of the folded wings.

Hi there, I know this might be a broken record but could you make the torpedo toggleable? I know it's a torpedo bomber, but I'd love to do some training flights with it! Doesn't have to be a different model.
For free, a five star aircraft. Thank you for your contribution to the FS community!

If you dont want to see the torpedo ,all you have to do it releaae it before you fly. Thats as good as a toggle.

What are the keyboard key combinations to deploy the wings and open the cockpit ?
Fsadni author
I have no idea. I certainly did not set any Keyboard functions. That is a complicated setup and thats way over my head. You can do all these function from the cockpit.

GHQST
It downloads as a .RAR file. How do I install it in the sim?
38group
Download and install winrar (trial version),go to the download of the aircraft and right click on it.Select extract to (aircraft name). This will unpack it to a folder, double click that folder and within it you'll see a folder with the aircraft name.this is the folder that you can drag and drop into the community folder.I ALWAYS double click on it to make sure it contains a simobjects folder,if it does you are good to go.Have fun............................

tradewolf
Hi, thanks for great effort. Could you have at least one version without the torpedo? Thanks in advance
Fsadni author
Whats the point in having a torpedo bomber without a torpedo? And second I spend enough time to create a version and certainly not about to start creating multiple versions of same aircraft.
