Casalinho Airdrome is a small airfield located in Pombal, a city in the district of Leiria, Portugal. The airfield is situated approximately 2.5 kilometers south of the city center and is mainly used for general aviation activities.
The airdrome features a single runway, oriented in the south-north direction, with a length of 800 meters and a width of 18 meters. The runway is paved with asphalt and has a small strip alongside for paragliders. There is also a small apron located at the eastern end of the runway, which provides parking for a limited number of aircraft.
The helipad at Casalinho Airdrome has a circular landing area with a diameter of approximately 45 meters. It is constructed with concrete and features markings to aid in approach and landing. The helipad is easily accessible from the main runway and provides a valuable resource for emergency response and other aerial activities requiring helicopter transport.
The airfield used to be a hub for skydiving activities. My father owned the skydiving company, and the hangar that is still standing is from him. However, the airfield is no longer in use for skydiving, and the designated drop zone located at the western end of the runway is no longer operational.
Overall, Casalinho Airdrome is a small but important facility for the local aviation community, providing a convenient location for general aviation activities in the Pombal area.
This is my first time doing a scenery so...
