Antonov AN-2 Air Force Estonia 40 Yellow „William Blue Monday “
This is the An-2T 40 Yellow, serial number 1G-4325. This aircraft was built in 1964 by WSK-PZL in Mielec (Poland).
Its history is not complete, but it was delivered to the Soviet Army in late 1964 or early 1965. On May 19, 1992 it was registered by Narva Aviation as ES- BAE registered. In 1994 he was transferred to the Estonian Air Force with the registration number 40 yellow. Many air forces of the former Soviet countries have retained the Soviet Union registration type, which consists of colored numerals.
This An-2 has a curious drawing of a Scotsman "William" on the nose with the inscription "Blue Monday". It's a joke by pilots regarding Mondays when they couldn't fly after a weekend of drinking and more drinking. William, in his undisputed Scottish dress, is William Grant of the Glenfiddich distillery.
After its final flight, the Yellow 40 is preserved at the entrance of the Amari air base.
Best wishes to all pilots from Estonia
