RAF Mount Pleasant (EGYP) is a Royal Air Force station in the south Atlantic. It is home to between 1,000 and 2,000 British military personnel, it remains the newest purpose-built RAF station. It is home to 1435 Flight, a Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4 unit.
My aim is to offer a good approximation of RAF Mount Pleasant, and a significant improvement over the autogen, however it's not possible to be super accurate since there is very limited photographic reference material available - I'll strive to make it as good as I can within that scope! Countless hours have gone into this project - so if you like it please take the time to leave a review and rating below.
This all started because the autogen scenery for this airport was very poor, with wildly inaccurate high-rise buildings and poor apron texture colours, plus a general lack of detail as expected with auto-gen airports. I've made a wide range of improvements, including:
- Custom models with PBR materials and textures for many buildings, including:
- Main passenger terminal
- Large main hangar (thanks to Vortex SD for helping out and creating this model!)
- Hardened air shelters
- Control tower
- Hospital
- Fire station
- Dozens of misc hangars and warehouse buildings
- Where custom models aren't used, most of the remaining autogen buildings have been replaced with more suitable Asobo models.
- Replacement apron and taxiway textures, hand-drawn polygons to match satellite imagery materials
- Replacement of all runways, parking and taxiways.
- Terraforming everywhere. This has been quite a challenge to avoid any nasty transitions between taxiways while following the undulations of the terrain - drop me a message with details if you find any problems.
- Static aircraft
- Improved runway markings, arrestor cables etc, including custom model for RHAG.
- Added clutter, vehicles and other airfield equipment
- Added dirt, tyre marks, etc to improve realism
- Added more painted lines to taxiways, roads, walkways, aircraft parking ramps, using custom painted line textures for improved realism vs the stock lines.
COMING NEXT
- Ongoing refinement and additional detail everywhere.
- Custom painted line textures on west apron, to match the rest of the scenery.
- Custom models for more buildings, including:
- More residential buildings
- Power station
- Bunker type buildings north of runways (ammunition stores?)
DEPENDENCIES
REQUIRED DEPENDENCY: I've used some models from the excellent RAF Lossiemouth scenery by nickb007 - thank you for letting me do this Nick. Note: Please also ensure your community folder contains the "jyai_eurofighter_typhoon_ai_only" folder which is included with the Lossiemouth scenery, in order to get the static Typhoon model. Ensure you get v1.6.0 or later.
OPTIONAL DEPENDENCY: We Love VFR region 1, for the radio mast models.
REQUIRED DEPENDENCY: Various Sim, World and City Updates. If in doubt I suggest you install them all, but I've definitely used several buildings from Oceania World Update XIII.
CREDITS
- The static RAF A330 MRTT was supplied by Superspud. Do check out his extensive collection of scenery here if you haven't done so already!
- The static Sikorsky S92 model was adapted from an FSX model by John Young at Military AI Works. John kindly gave permission for me to use his model in this scenery. I have created the Bristow Helicopters livery from scratch using John's paintkit.
- Thanks to Paul64 for his detailed feedback on Mount Pleasant, and for sharing some models which I hope to update and include in future updates.
- The static British Antarctic Survey Dash-7 has been adapted from the freeware model by Milton Shupe, John Kelly et al*. My understanding from Milton's statement on FSDeveloper.com is that this model was made available and free to adapt and publish providing (A) the adaptation is freeware, (B) proper credit is given to the original authors and (C) the original source model is not redistributed.
- Credit to Milton Shupe for the Dash 7 model
- Credit to John Kelly for the BAS texture
* If Milton, John or any other original authors are not happy with me including this static model then please reach out to me and I'll remove it immediately.

I had one of the weirdest landings I've ever had in live weather. Had to land at about 45°. XD
Radio with tower and ground worked wonderfully.
ILS too. I found it very nice that there were several parking lots to choose from.
A little more signage on the taxiways would be good as I could not identify the taxiways in VR.

Just want to say how amazing it now looks, and way more impressive than what I had originally hoped when I recommended you for this project.
I, very much, look forward to see what the finished product looks like and what other projects you take on in the future!! Top stuff!
