Version 2.0
Oh boy, it was time for an update. On closer inspection I found, many of the crazy people and animals have their feet, hoofs or other lower bodyparts buried in the ground. They looked like they had been prepared to be drowned in a South-Italian harbour. On the one hand I guess this goes nicely with the nature of this mod but in the end my warm heart won and I freed all creatures from their concrete traps. Enjoy this slightly elevated version of the zoo!
Version 1.5
More animated animals for your sinister fun.
More gazing giraffes
More brutal black bears
More happy hippos
Enjoy!
Version 1.0
'Dad, you are spending too much time on the computer building your stupid airport again!' My daughter was right. What should I say? 'But look, you can add nice animals into the sim!' 'Wow! That's cool!'
Five minutes later we had agreed on a mutual project. It had to be in Africa or alternatively some kind of zoo. Since we both know Frankfurt zoo, we decided to do that one. And good luck, it's already there! We have photogrammetry for Frankfurt. You can see the buildings and compounds. Maybe too many trees around.
Well, flying above looks nice but down on the ground it looks like a post-apocalyptic landscape. Never mind! We are amateurs and we don't want to win a prize. We keep those crumpled buildings and monster trees and drop in animals and people.
It was great fun doing it, building cute and charming scenes trying to add the right animals into the right places. But somehow the weird nature of our surrounding drew us in. Our scenes became stranger and stranger. Reasonable parents with their kids on a Sunday visit? No way! People arguing, doing stupid things, animals going crazy! That's what happened! And what's that in that big pond?
Follow us on our trip into the abyss of the human mind and watch scenes of erratic human and animal behaviour. Prepare for the worst and join our tour through the zoo!
Our favourite weird scene is not in the screenshots so you have to find it yourself. The zoo is marked as a landmark. It's slightly east of the city center, north of the European Central Bank. Start from Frankfurt airport, and head east along river Main. Take something slow like the Cub. Turn off crash detection, crash it into the middle of the zoo and start exploring with the drone cam. Alternatively you can fly in in a helicopter and land on the ape's house! But don't forget to put glue on the skids. It's slippery when wet.
