Chase Farm Airstrip just north of Yate in South Gloucestershire. EGXG
Another local strip by me, this time a replacement of one that's already in the game. The default version looks quite terrible with a weird row of housing where the glider hangars are. Once again I can't really find much about the airfield so just went mostly by aerial imagery, so what you see is mostly my twisted imagination run wild, it's mostly just farm stuff though. IRL the farm looks a bit more tidy but it kinda ended up a bit of a mess in my rendition. Also the farmhouse IRL looks a lot fancier than here as I couldn't find any decent farmhouse type buildings in any of the libraries I use so I just left the house to autogen which does look a bit crap but its easy to ignore.
Due to the prescence of trees at the west end I strongly suggest you take off from 09 and land on 27. You can do it the other way around of course, it just requires something with good STOL capabilities and a strong constitution. The runway has a bit of a hill on the east end which I did tame a bitbut it's still a bit much. Might flatten it out a bit more later. I managed to both take off and land here in th Cessna 207 which was a lot of fun. See the video for what can charitably be described as 'flying' the Stationair out and back in.
As always you'll need a bunch of libraries to get everything to look as intended, can't remember what's what but just get 'em all. The 3D Human Library probably isn't mandatory but it has kitties and pups so you know you want to. Speaking of pups, Google Maps says there's kennels here and I had to resist the temptation to flood this scenery with dogs but there's 2 or 3 around.
You can easily fly to my other airfields from here: Frogland, Oldbury-on-Severn and Woolaston so why not check them out as well?
I also removed a big wind turbine about a mile to the west because like 90% of wind turbines in the sim it's just too bloody big and I was fetting fed up of it dominating the skyline whilst working on the scenery. Judging from aerial imagery the real one is at least 1/3 of the size.
Elandon
Tried with the Tiger Moth but not so easy !!!
Thank you so much for these little gems !!
