Grizzly Lake Alaska (GLAK)
Grizzly Lake is located Wrangle-St. Elias National Park and Preserve in Alaska. There is no official strip at this site but small planes and float planes land on this public property providing access to Grizzly Lake and Grizzly Creek for fishing and hunting.
There are no accessible cabins or services. Camping is allowed for private individuals. Outfitters are required to have state and federal permits and hunters may require additional permits/tags.
The strip is short and suited for small aircraft only.
I have another scenery available for nearby Sheep Lake. Sheep Lake and Grizzly Lake are both visited for hunting brown bear and doll sheep as well as fishing, mostly lake trout, grayling, and white fish. The atlas shows the grizzly lake strip further east and does not include the Sheep Lake strip. The interesting thing about these two locations that are only about six miles apart is that Grizzly Lake drains through Grizzly Creek to, eventually, the Tanana River, the Yukon and thus into the Bering Sea. Sheep Lake drains through Goat Creek north into the Cooper River and eventually to the Gulf of Alaska.
I hope you enjoy the scenery and I always welcome comments/feedback.
