YDBY - Derby Airport, Western Australia
Donations are welcome. A lot of effort goes into these. Hope you enjoy my mods.
Note your sim must be up to date with all world updates installed. You do not need any photogrammetry installed, just the base world updates as I borrow scenery from those resources. I also recommend to install the UK2000 Scenery Library which is free in the Marketplace and used by many devs, including my work.
V 1.0
Welcome to Derby Airport, next stop Bali.
This airport is one of the bigger ones in the north of Western Australia, along with Newman and Port Hedland. In keeping with being as RL as possible, I have recreated runway 05-23 as it appears in the charts and in google earth. This means that runway is partly asphalt with long sections of gravel.
The longer of the two runways, 11-29, is fully useable but I have disabled 05-23 for use by the AI, as it would look wrong if the engine tried to use it. I mean, what is with the gravel sections anyway? If anyone knows, leave a comment.
So, all done Including boundary fences, fire station, the trusty Toyota Landcruiser or two, a classic old Holden station-wagon, and some of my best texture work so far.
Enjoy!
V 2.0 ( 1 MAR 24 )
- Added taxiway signs
- Added animation at the fire station
- Added a heli-start for you chopper pilots
- Fixed a texture glitch.
- Tweaked the AI to taxi more efficiently.
V 2.1 (28 May 24)
- Added more objects around the apron area.
- Randomised the size of the handplaced trees to make them more realistic.
- Added vehicles out the front of the terminal.
- Reduced the size of the GA parking to ensure scheduled AI spawn where they are supposed to.
- Other minor additions and improvements.
Basically this airport is really well put together, the apron textures are among the very best I have produced, the runways are all true to life and I do not understand why this one is not doing as well as other scenery of mine.
Perplexing.
Tip:
Don't forget to reload your Little Navmap scenery library now and then in order to keep your new airfields accurately portrayed within it. This way all your new taxiway designations are updated among other things.
LNM automatically searches through your community folder during the process which runs in the background so you can keep simming.
From the menu bar of LNM: Scenery Library | Load Scenery Library | press Load. When finished, press Use Database.
Instructions:
Unzip and drop into your Community folder.
Enjoy.

Edit: Figured out they come from ESSA. Will add this to my model extractor soon.
