Pennsylvania Central Airlines was a major operator of the DC-3, even being one of the few operators of the Super DC-3, with it´s Art deco inspired livery.
after updating their fleet from the Boeing 247 to the DC-3 in 1940, PCA moved into a new headquarter in the Washington National Airport (later renamed Ronal Reagan Washington National Airport, KDCA) being one of the airlines that helped shape the airport.
Due to their short range and high densitiy business model, bigger aircraft had issues adapting with the airline, but the DC-3 fit as a glove being named "Capitaliners" with the company.
The later 40s were tough in the company finances and as part of a recovery plan PCA was renamed Capital Airlines in 1947.
