FSAutoSave will automatically save your Flights in Flight Simulator when you exit so you can resume where you left. Easy to install and does not require any configuration. It will automatically save your flight when you end a session -or- by pressing CTRL+ALT+S. To resume a Flight simply go to the World Map and load the file called LAST.FLT.
Testing was done with the PMDG 737-800 so it works 100% with that particular Aircraft. Some MSFS default aircraft were tested too with success. Due to the complexity of some MSFS aircraft add-ons there is no way to test with each and everyone of them but this utility should work with any aircraft that has some form of panel state saving.

You can download the sources and compile this program yourself by visiting:

Keep in mind this utility is meant to be used to resume and continue flights in real time, meaning, it will use LIVE WEATHER and LOCAL TIME, its not meant to be used to save ‘situations’. The people that will benefit most from this is those who like to do several legs in a span of days or for around the world flights where you hop from gate to gate and wish to continue the next day. You can save during any stage of flight also. Cruise, taxi, landing, just keep in mind that when you resume both weather and time will be LIVE.
Also, this tool is not meant to create a SAVE to recover from crashes or CTDs, while you can certanly also use it for that, the utility real benefit is maintaining persistence betweeen flights after completing them. If you tried the program with your favorite add-on and would like to suggest a change visit my discord page and I'll gladly look into it. Also, if you are a programmer you can modify the program yourself as its released as open source.
Enjoy!

I get a message " Not saving situation or setting local ZULU as user loaded a mission or a non persistent .FLT file."
I am using a flying boat, in this particular case the Dornier DO-X. The program did save a "temporaryflight.flt" after landing, which I could restore without issue. However, when I press CTRL+ALT+S I get the above message.
Best regards!

I tried it with Steam MSFS and FBW A320.
When in-game I clicked CTRL-ALT-S and was told it was saved but when I went to the world map to load from PC the LAST.FLT file was not in the Microsoft flight sim directory (where normally the flight plan would be saved). Not sure where the LAST.FLT file is meant to be but I could not find it.

Go to the World Map and select a DEPARTURE airport + GATE. Now, configure your aircraft (or start it up) and begin taxiing. Now press ESC (so the program goes into the MENU screen) and exit the flight session. Your flight will be saved AUTOMATICALLY to a file called LAST.FLT when you exit.
Now try resuming the flight. Go into the World Map, load the file LAST.FLT and continue your flight to see if panel state was saved 100% without any settings missing.

The program does not require any input from you, if you see the console it does everything automatically, so ideally you can add the program to your xml.exe (so it will start automatically) and forget about it. There are some undocumented features, for example pressing CTRL+ALT+P will tell you what the closest JETWAY is to your position including direction. There are also some command line arguments (undocumented as well) you can use for example:
FSAutoSave automatically REMOVES the Taxi tug and gate marshalls, but if for some reason you want them present you can run it with the following command line argument:
-ENABLEAIRPORTLIFE
Also if you'd like the program to run minimized you could do:
-SILENT
And lastly, there is an integration with another program I created called GetFP (Get FlightPlan) which simply fetches the latest MSFS Flightplan from Simbrief when you go into the World Map screen. Obviously you need to download GetFP from https://github.com/BojoteX/GetFP/ and then point to the executable with another command line argument:
-SIMBRIEF:C:\PATH_TO_PROGRAM\GetFP.exe
