A Flightplan taking you around the Dams that were attacked in Operation Chastise, the Dambusters Raid of 16-17 May 1943.
You will depart from Paderborn (EDLP) which is close to the dams and also the subject of a very good freeware release from Aerosoft.
Usable by any aircraft but particularly good for the IFE Tornado, which will display heading info on the HUD, heading, offset and distance on the HSI and your back-seater will call out distances and automatically step the Nav computer through the waypoints. Some of the DC Designs jets can also navigate through waypoints, though silently. Note I'm NOT talking about using the autopilot to do this - autopilots are for whilst eating your sandwich on a long transit flight...
If using the Tornado I suggest fuelling to 50-70% (max internal and full wing tanks) before take-off or you will be at 20,000 ft practising air-air refuelling when you should be down in the weeds...Also set the map scale to 10 NM in the rear cockpit and the moving map will be much more useful in finding your way around the reservoirs. Keep the wings swept forwards for max turn rate to follow the reservoirs.
After take-off head South-west to WP Bravo (IP for the first dam) and follow the reservoir to the western end, jinking right over the Mohne dam (WP Charlie, get the add-on scenery linked below for good visuals). Run out to the West and turn South at the next waypoint.
Next up is the Sorpe dam, from IP 2 (WP Fox) follow the reservoir round to the right for the dam itself (WP Golf).
Run out to the North-east and turn South-East for the Henne dam. At IP 3 (WP India) turn North for the dam (WP Juliet), turning East crossing the dam.
Head South for the final dam, the Eder (WP November), running out to the East.
At WP Oscar turn left to head North-west for the run home.
Installation
Unpack the .PLN file anywhere you like really - you load a flight plan using the Load/Save dialogue from the World page in game and can navigate to your preferred location...or try a Load and see where the default location is for you, and put the .PLN file there.
