Overview
This is the first airfield customization project by 2DogzDesigns in customizing scenery for a series of “Warbird Wednesday” group flights. We settled on AYGN to pay tribute to 75 and 76 Squadron of the RAAF during the Battle of Milne Bay to be used in group flights for Virtual Flight Online. We are also releasing other customized airfields as a part of these group flight activities.
The stock airport (Gurney Airport) is an airport serving Alotau in the Milne Bay province in Papau New Guinea (PNG). The airfield is located at 10 18’ 41” S, 150 20’ 2” E
The default airport scenery was replaced and some surrounding scenery was altered to transform the airstrip into an airstrip for 75 and 76 Squadron operating the P-40 Warhawk. We have used assets from several add-ins including Windy Things. You’ll see two encampments on opposite sides of the airfield.
Owners of the P-40 Warhawk from iniBuilds will see static aircraft. There are several other static aircraft included to add to the immersive experience. We have utilized RAAF liveries as part of the scenery construction and for our group flight activities.
The layout is not intended to be historically accurate but representative of the time.
We have included period correct control tower, hangers, bomb shelters, fuel dumps, various vehicles, and other aerodrome related scenery scatter.
We are making this customization available for your enjoyment to the sim community at large. Thanks for downloading and enjoy! We have leveraged libraries from other developers on Flightsim.to and their libraries are required for this add-in.
