The first lighthouse in New York State, commissioned by George Washington and built in 1796, has changed hands several times, but it is protected and preserved by The Montauk Historical today. It's located 3 NM East of Montauk Airport (KMTP) at the Eastern tip of Long Island.
The Montauk Lighthouse was tended by local keepers until the Second World war when the Army took it over for coastal defense. In 1947, the Coast Guard took over its upkeep. In 1996, ownership of the property was transferred to The Montauk Historical Society.
It's recognizable by its white-brown-white "day mark" during the day and its 5-second flash rate at night. A massive seawall was put in place to prevent erosion of the cliff on which the lighthouse stands. A future version of this model will contain that seawall.

This is great! Long missing from Flight Simulator as are many of the Long Island landmarks. Thank you for creating it and posting it for all to enjoy.
One request.. would you be interested in adding in Camp Hero State Park? It's a long decommissioned coastal battery and SAC NIKE Anti-missile site from the Cold War days. It has one particular Radar Antenna still standing. The FS2020 scenery accounts for it with just a tall building. But this is what it really looks like.
The alleged experiments done there were the inspiration for the Netflix series Stranger Things as well.
I hiked through the area back in 1995 when it was still closed to the public. Was an amazing site to see.

You've got it! I start tomorrow. It'll be a good test of the Asobo Decal Material for making all the grunge. I wondered what that blocky thing was on the hill. The dish will be a good challenge also. Placement of the various buildings will take some research. Maybe I'll hide "11" in there somewhere. The article is a good start, though.
Thanks.

I believe you asked for it. Enjoy. I was testing the new Asobo Blender to MSFS exporter, so this seemed like a good bet.
I don't believe I can handle Captree; I'm not a boat builder, and there are only a few generic boats in the sim. Sorry.
