This upload contains 4 airports; 2 Seaplane bases in Greeneville, Maine on the south end of Moosehead Lake, and two airports located in Jackman, ME, a seaplane base and a land base 30 miles west of Greenville. You might want to set the time to summer, however, it's kind of boring in the winter setting that still exists up there here halfway through April, lol. Each airport is it's own package, so if you have a better one you can use that one instead.
52B - Moosehead Aero Marine Seaplane Base in Greenville, ME, operated by the Folsom family for many years, including being the home base for Max Folsom's N130Q DC-3 on floats, the only flying example of the plane in the world today. It is also home to Jack's Air Service, the Maine Forest Service Department of Conservation, the Greeneville Warden Service Headquarters for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife, and you'll see other seaplanes operating out of the area as well. It's also been the home to the "International" Seaplane Fly-in since 1973, a huge gathering of sea planes which includes contests, a parade and lots of family fun. I included 15 dock parking locations, 3 of which are fuel locations, 2 helipads, and 3 land amphibious parking locations at Folsom's hangar, The Forest Service's dock area, and at the Inland Fisheries Hangar. Some nice videos about the DC-3 here and here. And the International Seaplane Flyin
21M - Currier's Seaplane Base is on the west side of the Greenville peninsula in Greenville Junction, over by Kelly's Restaurant and the rail line, and offers scenic rides, trips all over Maine for sportsman and others. I included 7 dock park locations here, 1 of which has fuel.
A cute story about Currier's SPB
If you're interested in emergency helicopter operations, Northern Light CA Dean Hospital, about halfway between 52B and 21M, has an operational helipad.
59B - Newton Field - I included this because the airport lists its AWOS on the local air frequency used by all four of these airports (and many more I imagine), so I switched its AWOS to use 3B1 instead so ATC could be properly used by these airports. Be that as it may, Jackman, ME is very proud of their airport, and recently lengthened the runway to 3600 ft to make it accessible to larger aircraft such as King Airs, Kodiak's and others. Newton Field has 24 hour fuel available with a credit card (no FBO), as well as a helipad. I added a bit of lighting to the airport, though I doubt it has any besides over the 24 hour fuel station... Maybe though? At some point I'll get up to these locations and get more details
60B - Moose River Seaplane Base is home to Jackman Air LLC known for Air Tours, Flight Instruction, photography, and more, and is adjacent to the Jackman Landing Campground.
Eventually I'll add people to the Greenville side, but, I've spent enough hours on this project already and wanted to get it out.
A cool flight to do in the area is to head up north towards ME22 Avery Field just north of which you’ll find, in the middle of Moosehead Lake, Mt Kineo State Park. You may think the trees cascading down the side of the mountain are an FS thing, nope, they’re real… It’s also home to what is thought to be the second oldest golf course in the U.S..
From there you can head east to Mt Kitahdin, passing by many lakes and rivers carved by the glaciers along the way.
