The Kyiv Aeroprakt flying club was organized in 1986 by Yuri Yakovlev, who at the time was an engineer at the Antonov Research and Design Bureau. In 1991 he would leave Antonov to found his own company, Aeroprakt Aircraft, which today produces light sport aircraft for customers worldwide. In 2023 the company produced its 1500th aircraft. To provide a location for training and recreational flights of its aircraft, the company also built this Aeroclub facility on the site of a disused Soviet-era agricultural airfield about 50 kilometers West of Kyiv, near the village of Nalyvaikivka and the town of Makariv.
Aeroclub Aeroprakt has a 400 meter asphalt runway and a 450+ meter grass runway. The club building has a 27 x 31 meter hangar for storage of the club's aircraft, as well as outdoor parking for visiting aircraft. Air traffic control is provided by a stationary radio on frequency 118.9 using the callsign "Aeroprakt Tower". The club building is also home to a small hotel with 5 guest rooms, a kitchen, a fireplace, and an open-air patio with a barbeque oven.
Around 2021 Aeroprakt also began construction on a new factory adjacent to the airport, intended to replace their existing factory in Kyiv city and allow the expansion of production to 150 aircraft per year. As of 2023 the factory building is mostly complete and awaiting installation of equipment.
In late March of 2022, during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the front lines, for a time, ran just East of the airport. During the fighting, a Russian Su-25 ground attack aircraft dropped two 500 kilogram bombs on the airfield. One failed to explode, but the other detonated on the apron, causing extensive damage to the hangar and club building. However, by the middle of the year, the employees of Aeroprakt began reconstruction work on the airfield, and the work was largely completed by February 2023.
Features of this scenery include:
- Detailed model of the Aeroclub Aeroprakt building and hangar.
- Full PBR textures.
- Static aircraft: Aeroprakt A24 Viking, Aeroprakt A36 Vulcan, and Yak 18T (models by helijah, licensed under CC-BY-4.0).
- Chimney smoke visual effect when the ambient temperature is below 15° C (59° F), and at all times during December through February.
- Hangar doors close automatically at night and open from dawn to dusk. The hangar can also be closed manually at any time by hiding the yoke in your aircraft (may not work with all 3rd-party add-ons).
- ATC tower radio on frequency 118.9.
Please note that because it is not possible to change the names of airports that already exist in MSFS, this airport will always appear on the world map as "UKVN Nalivaykovka, Makariv".
