In conjunction with Skell300 we have recreated EGCD Woodford Aerodrome in Greater Manchester for your flying and nostalgic pleasure.
This is a storied site indeed. Originally opened by Avro in 1924 it's where the Lancaster, Shackleton, Nimrod and Vulcan were built along with plenty of others.
In 2011 it was shut down and sold by BAE to Mrs JCB, and it's now a housing development where IT consultants named Simon and Debbie lead uninteresting lives in new build houses that won't last more than two decades with negative equity and unfavourable management fees just like the rest of the country.
Eventually Simon tires of this life of utter tedium, shags someone named Natalie in a Frankie & Benny's car park who he met down the council gym, leaves Debbie and Debbie, craving adventure, drifts into a life of crime and is eventually killed in a firefight on the Venezuelan border.
In the sim this is nothing but a building site so an aerial image of the site from 2010 has been glued in along with all the buildings recreated by Skell300 and me adding taxiways and runways.
Most of the parking is around the factory site with a couple of other spaces elsewhere on the site. There is one medium GA space - 16 - on the main apron, the rest are without services. Two fuel trucks will turn up and feed you.
There isn't much reference info out there so there are some unsolved mysteries that I'll fill in when they're discovered, mainly signage and stuff dotted around on the grass, but this is certainly more stimulating than what was there before.
If you have any pics from the olden days let us know.
There's no nav data. I couldn't find any even if I had the slightest clue how to add it from scratch. If you're any good at that let us know.

Secondly, at last, Woodford, I was hoping someone would do this historic airfield justice, considering the Vulcan having just been released for MSFS (Im still downloading the airfield as Im typing this so fingers-crossed eh?).
Lastly, I used to fly out of Woodford most weekends in the late 1970s.... now when I say fly.. I mean winched..... in a glider..... as a pupil.... and i was crap.... really rubbish.... terrible.... even Nathalie laughed.
Lastly, thank you Superspud (and Skell300) 😀
EDIT: Ive checked it out, and its a fantastic initial release... obviously it can only get better the more historical references can be provided but it looks great as it is. I had to spawn my A320 (yeah.. sorry) on the runway so I could have a nosey at the aerodrome..... but defo means ive got to buy the Vulcan now !!! Even Nathalie would be laughing on the other side of her face 😀

I now have several (3) deactivated UK airfields - something I said I would never have (Plymouth and Filton being the two others).
