This bushtrip is inspired by a map from 1950 of Frontier Airlines, an old airline which rebirthed as a low cost compagny. The journey uses the airport of this compagny, and thanks to the courtesy of foxybr, you will fly one of the DC-3 of the compagny at that time (The free Frontier Airlines livery is a mandatory download).
You will fly 31 legs from El Paso in the desert south of the Rockies to Billings, located north-East of the Rockies. It represents the longest path through the Rockies which was done by Frontier Airlines (when it continues to expand until 1986, it was out of the Rockies). The legs are usually shorts (often less than 1 hour), indeed you can see on the timetable that Frontier usually do some small hops between airports to provide access to remote towns. You will fly for 4 days, while the sun is shining through the desert, arid plateaus, but also over green valleys and through multiple passes, including the Monarch pass. The weather is live, and you should encounter which will complicate already hard landings and sometimes difficult takeoff because airports are mostly above 5000 feets.
Airports where you fly will be : KELP - KLRU - KDMN - KSVC - KLSB - KCFT - KSAD - P13 - E81 - KPHX - KPRC - KFLG - KINW - KGUP - KFMN - KDRO - KALS - KPUB - KGUC - KMTJ - KGJT - KPUC - KPVU - KSLC - KEMM - KRKS - KRWL - KCPR - KWRL - KGEY - KCOD - KPOY - KBIL
You might notice that part of the trip is share with the legacy bushtrip of Frontier, but don't worry, I wrote the navlog thinking that you may wouldn't look at a map, so you can mostly rely on POI like mountains and roads. Sometimes it's necessary to use the navigation radio since there are not so much POI in deserts, but in general you can find your route without it. Descriptions are available in multiple languages.
You will start each leg on a parking spot, a pushback might be useful time to time (you need an addon to pushback the DC-3, I uses this one). Use a DC-3 checklist or the shortcut (ctrl + E) to start the plane. To end a leg, you will need to shutdown engines, battery and set the parking brake.
I plan to do similar bushtrip, follow me if you like this one and if you want to be noticed when a new one will be published. If you like or if you have any suggestion, feel free to write a commentary.
Thanks to BuffyGC for 'Bushtrip Injector' and to Alexander Barthel for 'Little Navmap'. If you want the possibility to choose the plane, the weather, the time of day and the season (and some other goodies), then you should take a look at the experimental program - MissionChanger (also created by BuffyGC).

Including the calming expression on Donna Bailey's face the 'stewardess' as they were once called, right after the collision.
It's great to see that old plane in flight sim, brings back many memories of a different time and how much air travel has changed.
There are a few stories of the incident on the web. This is one of them.

This is the third bush trip that I have flown that you have created. I gave you 5 stars because you have done an outstanding job to create a challenging trip. I got caught in almost zero visibility storm while leaving KPUB and climbing to go through the mountains (probably the toughest leg on this trip) and it was one heck of a scary climb to clear the mountaintops. Keep up the good work.

Thank you so much, you're really brave (or mad) making VFR flying into the mountains by storm. Even when weather is clear landing at Gunnison is not easy, well done !

Hi. For whatever reason I can't get it to register progress at the first airport. I have absolutely shut down everything including the battery, engines, all electrical and set the brakes and chocs and still no go. As you recall I had the same problem with the cross-country DC-3 flight but not the Italy or Viet Nam bush trips. I can't continue this nice trip without the progress being registered. Thanks.
